1596 The story of this book is unbelievably convoluted with plot holes that one could drive a truck through. Tess is a former internationally-renowned supermodel. Her model BFF died from a drug-overdose, except she was really murdered by a U.S. Senator from California, who was cheating on his wife. Tess was extra sad because her own mother died from a drug overdose, which is why she was raised by her grandparents in Montana before she became an internationally-renowned supermodel. After quitting her job as an internationally-renowned supermodel, Tess returned to Montana to open a cafe where she has a hard time finding the time to show up to work even though it takes her less than 90 minutes to get everything ready for the day. (I’m guessing the author doesn’t know anyone who runs a business if she thinks that’s how small businesses function). Tess is so upset by her tragic history as an internationally-renowned supermodel, that she shuns the local reporter. Tess is so kind-hearted and has so much free time, that she tracks down a couple featured in a news article about being burgled. The reporter doesn’t know the names of the people he wrote about, but Tess perseveres. Apparently, the couple is so tragic, that they moved away the same day they were robbed and even more tragically don’t know anyone other than Tess who can help them plan the wedding of their dreams - that they did not plan for even though they had been planning to get married. Weird, right? It’s almost like every aspect of the story is made entirely of tropes, stereotypes, and contrivances. Intrepid reporter, Logan, the Afghanistan veteran with PTSD, then does a multi-part series on Tess’s good deeds, exposing her to more reporters from other states who discover her sordid past (3 years ago) as an internationally-renowned supermodel. However could anyone have known that she was an internationally-renowned supermodel for 10 years?!?
